Cast in brass and hand-finished at the workshop, sold direct instead of through a gallery, which is most of the price difference.
A gallery piece and a direct piece can come from the same mould. The difference is the markup, not the metal.
Cast brass all the way through, so the finish does not wear off the way a plated piece does.
Each piece is filed and polished by hand after casting, which is what a gallery is charging for on top of the metal.
Cutting out the gallery markup is the entire reason the price is lower, the piece itself is unchanged.
Two habits keep a brass piece looking right for years.
A soft dry cloth is enough for routine dusting, avoid household cleaning sprays on the metal.
A brass polish once or twice a year keeps the shine, brass will naturally darken slightly between polishes and that is normal.
